English Course :)

Hello everyone! Well, today I’m going to talk about the experience of study English in the university. I think it’s something very necessary in these times, before it was a plus, but now it’s something basic for any career. Before I was studying Business Administration, and that was a very hard course of English, we talked about anything every class and we have to express opinions about different topics about administration. And now in Psychology the course of English it’s so much fun than before, because with this blogs, we learn, and we wright about interesting things. And maybe the only thing that I didn’t like it it’s the hour, because Thursday it’s my last day in the university so I’m very exhausted at this point of the week.
So, in general it’s been a great experience.  For example here I discovered a few interesting things like the speeches of Sir Ken Robinson and the different ways or tips for recycling.  And almost forgot the presentations that we made in class it were a nice activity too. That it’s something that everyone must work harder… the PRONUNCIATION!!
And that it’s what I think of this course J

The most important gold

Hello everyone, today I will write an article that I read in “The Guardian” that is a British newspaper. This article tells us a story about Gemma Spofforth, the world record holder and former world champion at the 100m backstroke. She has a few episodes in her life that made her think about suicide. But after some sessions and other kind of helps she get better. Even after that “suicide” event, she starts to help another people and also she gets a place on a Masters course in mental health counseling. The article also says something about that she will publish her autobiography after the London Olympics this year. So if anybody wants to know more details about her or the story it will have to wait until this September to read more.

I like this article because I’m interested in this kind of Psychology that is related with sports. And I think that if she was being with some support before and during all that bad episodes in her life, she never had the idea of suicide. Her life it’s complicate just for being a high-ranking swimmer, so you can imagine the pressure that comes with that.
It’s interesting her case, because she has a very good ending, even she can name her book like “The rainbow after the storm” it will be nice.
That is for today, read me next time!
And this is the link of the article:

Hello everyone! In this session Sir Ken Robinson shows a new video, in this time we can watch an illustration according to what he is talking about (so interactive!!!). So, he talks about changing paradigms in education, about how we can reformate public education and he separate two topics. One is about economy. The second reason is cultural. How we can combine, or how we are working with these two topics for the globalization. The problem is that the actual system of education was created for a different age. And, with this system some people was beneficiated, but most people has not, and that produce a chaos. Also he talks about the ADHD (Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) and that it’s a fictitious epidemic. Sir Ken wants to communicate that we must change the way we are used to know the education. He shows some examples to illustrate how economy and children are related, for example we are used to separate or classify children for their age, but why? That seems like there were products that we can possibly use in the future, so there is a problem in the system that we must change. It’s also important to mention the idea of “divergent thinking” as an essential capacity for creativity (we hear in the previous blog the importance of creativity). To resume we need to get over the old or classic system of education.
This is a very interesting way to see and understand a topic that we should discus with other people. We should share this information, and that it’s what I’m doing now :).
